Invisalign in North Scottsdale, AZ

Have you always wanted straighter teeth but didn’t like the idea of uncomfortable metal brackets and wires? Invisalign may be the answer you’ve been looking for! Invisalign is a series of thin, almost imperceptible plastic trays that gradually move your teeth into their ideal position. If you live close to North Scottsdale, AZ, a consultation with Dr. Bjorn Melander will determine if Invisalign is right for you!

With Invisalign, you can get the confidence of a beautiful smile without going through the embarrassment of metal braces. The trays are clear and only 0.3mm thick, making them almost invisible. They are easily removable, so if you have a big event or special occasion, you can remove them for a few hours. Regular braces are a plaque trap that can lead to irritated gum tissue, and they are so difficult to clean that they often cause cavities. With Invisalign, you can quickly remove the trays and then brush and floss your teeth just like normal. In the long term, Invisalign can prevent gum disease and tooth decay by relieving the crowding that makes it difficult to clean between teeth. Invisalign gives you the benefits of metal braces without the drawbacks.

Your Invisalign Preferred Provider

Although Invisalign cases are scanned into a computer, the final setup is determined by the treating doctor. That’s why it’s so important to find an Invisalign doctor that you can trust. Dr. Melander is an Invisalign Preferred Provider, meaning that he has the experience necessary to treat your case. Although incredibly rare, patients at Enamor Dentistry also receive an occlusal equilibration at the end of treatment. Almost all completed Invisalign cases have bite prematurities that will cause the teeth to shift from their ideal position. The occlusal equilibration removes these prematurities, giving patients a more comfortable bite and a more stable smile.

Even though Invisalign can sometimes complete treatment in less time than metal braces, many people still want to speed up the process. Propel has been shown to be the best way to accelerate treatment. If you’re interested in cutting your treatment time in less than half, finding an experienced Propel clinician is important. Dr. Melander is experienced at delivering the benefits of Propel to his patients.

Make sure you get the real Invisalign trays! There are several other imitators that have recently popped onto the market. They are all fine at doing simple movements, but none have the features and quality of Invisalign. Invisalign is now a 6th generation product while the imitators are just getting started.

How does Invisalign work?

Impressions are taken at the office and digitally scanned. Once Dr. Melander has an ideal final setup, the patient has the opportunity to see it and suggest any changes. Manufacturing and shipping the trays takes just over a week.

Before the first tray is inserted, teeth need small modifications. Most people need attachments placed on difficult to move teeth. Attachments are small pieces of filling material placed on the outside of the tooth that act like a handle for the Invisalign tray. The attachments are clear and easily removed at the end of treatment. When necessary, teeth are stripped or thinned to create room in order to relieve crowding. Stripping teeth is painless and only involves thinning the enamel by fractions of a millimeter.

Each tray makes the teeth slightly straighter than the one before. Each tooth can only move a quarter millimeter each tray. Trays are typically worn for two weeks, but with the help of Propel, can be sped up to five days. Trays should be worn for 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat. Patients should brush their teeth before reinserting the trays.

At the end of treatment, there is often a tooth that needs a tweak to make perfect. An Invisalign refinement is a new course of trays to put the finishing touches on your smile. Don’t be alarmed if you need a refinement- many orthodontists say that 80% of cases need one. At Enamor Dentistry, refinements are always included free of charge.
